Appointed for Men to Die Once | Eastside church of Christ

There are many uncertainties in life. But one certainty for all of us is that one day we will pass from this life. We should reflect soberly on this reality in light of what the Bible teaches. “It is appointed for men to die once and after this comes the judgment” (Hebrews 9:27). Paul wrote, “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad” (2 Corinthians 5:10). Knowing this, how can we be sure our deeds are good and not bad? We must go to the right standard. Jesus said, “The word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day” (John 12:48). We must go to the word of God and obey it (James 1:22) so that we might be prepared for the judgment. [This article was published in the local newspaper on September 2, 2015]
