At the Eastside church of Christ, we are simply a group of Christians who have joined together as a congregation of God’s people to do the work the Lord gave the local church to do.
We are autonomous, which means we are not governed by any other church or religious body. We submit to Christ as the head of the church (Ephesians 1:22-23) and seek to follow His word in all that we do (Colossians 3:17).
We are non-denominational, which means we have no ties to any denominational body. When Jesus established His church, He made one church (Matthew 16:18). We want to be part of His church and not any church of man.
We recognize that the Bible is from God and contains His will for man today (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Therefore, we look to the word of God to find what the Lord has commanded and what He has authorized us to do (James 1:22; Matthew 7:21-23). In our teaching, we have a divine obligation to represent the word of God accurately (1 Peter 4:11) and never change the gospel that was originally given (Galatians 1:6-9). Knowing that we are fallible human beings, we invite you to test what we do with the Scriptures and see if what we teach and practice is in harmony with the word of God (Acts 17:11). If we need to change to conform to God’s revealed will, we want to do that. We hope you’ll want to do the same.
