The laws of man are constantly changing. The recent Supreme Court decision on marriage provided a vivid reminder of this fact. Yet the word of God does not change. The psalmist wrote, “Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven” (Psalm 119:89). God is “not a man that He should change His mind” (1 Samuel 15:29). He is not affected by polls, elections, or special interest groups. His word is “settled in heaven” and it “endures forever” (1 Peter 1:25). Therefore, if we want to know what is true, right, and good, we need to go back to the Bible. Public opinion and civil law are always changing. We need to build our lives upon the solid foundation of Jesus Christ and His word (Matthew 7:24-27). [This article was published in the local newspaper on July 8, 2015]
